Pastor Marvel presents the “essentials” of good financial management, grounded in biblical principles. She believes an awareness and understanding of financial literacy will increase the chances of better decision making and overall well-being. She understands the stigma that can be associated with discussing finances. But no matter how difficult or delicate the topic, or dire the situation may seem, it’s important for individuals, especially believers, to become savvier because the economic climate continues to evolve.

After years of seeing the struggle, Ms. Alder began to learn about financial behavior(s) in an attempt to understand the root cause. Her goal is to expose poor financial choices and the impact they can have on life. According to the Bible HIS yoke is easy and HIS burdens are light, and though we are in this world we are not of this world. Exposing poor choices can reveal strategies of small adjustments to current behaviors. These small adjustments can have tremendous positive impact on finances and as a result release the heavy burden and/or stigma the enemy has used to hold people in bondage.

With more than twenty years of finance and accounting experience spanning, public, private and nonprofit organizations, Marvel is well equipped and joyfully offers assistance in this area. She has served as a consultant for small businesses, churches and individuals and a result has developed a passion and sensitivity to the needs of sound financial management principles for personal, business, church and ministry development.

She is the President and Founder of RTM Financial Educators, which is a nonprofit organization that teaches financial literacy. This program educates on the benefits of making informed financial decisions and the impact these decisions can have on a person’s overall well-being. Goal setting, critical thinking and time management are a few of the life skills incorporated into the four-session program.

Pastor Marvel’s educational background includes an M.S. in Family Studies and Human Services (Major: Family Financial Planning) and a M.B.A. in Strategy and Management and a B.S. in Business Administration (Dual majors: Finance and Risk Management/Insurance). She also holds a graduate certificate in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University.

She and her husband Darrell have been married for over 30 years and reside in the greater Sacramento area. They have three adult children, Darrell C. Alder II, Katreena and Kristeena.
