1)Prophetic Wor/Warship…

Apostle/Pastor Darrell Alder is the “Worship Pastor” that led this meeting.  As led of the Holy “Loving” Spirit, the “Wonderful Worship” saturated the atmosphere so the presence of God’s Holy Spirit could fill the room.  When ALL hearts were FILLED with “God’s Loving Spirit,” the Seminar was then led in “Prayer.”

Once all the born-again hearts were ready, Apostle Darrell started his teaching as led of the Holy Spirit.  He started his presentation stating that many people have asked the question, "What is Prophetic Worship?"

Apostle Darrell went on to say that In his research, he has found a couple of credible sources who define prophetic worship from two different angles. The first of which read, “acknowledges that the term and belief do exist and it gives a pretty good definition of what prophetic worship is,” but, one doesn’t actually believe it is a valid form of worship, while the other completely endorses it.

Apostle Darrell stated, “let me start by saying, I completely endorse it, live by it, believe in it and will go to my grave with the same fervor about prophetic worship that I have today.”

An Answer To Define Prophetic Worship:

Prophetic worship is a ‘trending activity’ within the Charismatic movement that combines spontaneous music, dance, and other art forms to present a “new” word from God. The word prophetic in this context means “hearing God in your heart and communicating what He says.”

To prophesy is to speak (or sing) by “inspiration.” Sometimes the music and lyrics during a prophetic worship service are said to be “the song of the Lord,” because of the belief that the musicians and song leaders were “inspired” to speak God’s word—in the same way that the Old Testament prophets were.

There is an emphasis on spontaneity in prophetic worship. There are no programs to follow, no lyrics on the screen, and no rehearsals ahead of time. Words to the songs just “come” to the singer, as the Spirit supposedly directs him or her, and the musicians play along.

Whatever the Spirit wants to sing is sung. Prophetic worship services often include other Charismatic elements such as tongues-speaking, ecstatic utterances, and claims of healing. There is much talk of “the spirit of Elijah,” “Jehoshaphat worship style,” “anointing,” and “soaking.”

Those who promote prophetic worship use several passages of Scripture (almost exclusively Old Testament) to support their practice. For example, the fact that Habakkuk included a song at the end of his prophecy shows a link between music and the “prophetic” (Habakkuk 3:1–19).

And, since David was a prophet and a musician, and since he did a spontaneous dance “before the Lord” (2 Samuel 6:12-23), we should do the same. (Using this passage has an added benefit: anyone who criticizes the prophetic worship style is considered a “Michal,” verse 16.)

Is there anything wrong with spontaneity in worship? Absolutely not. Can the Holy Spirit use our artistic ability for the glory of God? Yes, He can, and yes He does. Is music an important tool in the communication of God’s Word? Yes, and Spirit-filled believers will be characterized by song (Ephesians 5:18–19).

However, prophetic worship goes beyond simply praising God with its claim that God is still giving “new” revelation to His people today. In prophetic worship, glossolalia, a “small inner voice,” and whatever lyrics being sung at the moment are all equated with the Holy Scriptures.

And therein lies the danger. To place anything on par with Scripture is to diminish God’s Word and open the door to deception. For anyone to claim the role of prophet or apostle, on par with Elijah or Paul, is to invite God’s resistance of the proud (James 4:6) and bring confusion to the church. Prophetic worship may offer opportunities for musical creativity, but it is not “inspired” in the sense that the Bible is, and it does not provide any new revelation from God.

The one pre-requisite that is missing in this person’s analysis of prophetic worship is the evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Sometimes a person can take such an analytical approach to the bible that they study the Holy Spirit out of the service and out of their lives.

In order to understand the move of the Holy Spirit, one must be Holy Spirit filled and once this takes place, it enables them to be able to understand the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5-11.

Prophetic Worship - A Differing Perspective

Prophetic worship is Spirit-led worship – it is simple. We think if something is not complicated it is not good enough, yet the Lord tells us to be like children, to keep things simple.

Worship is going into the Holy of Holies. From the moment the worship service begins, we are on a journey towards that place. One of the words translated worship in Greek is “Proskuneo.” It literally means to “prostrate oneself in homage.” It is used in Matthew 2:2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” (Apostle Darrell’s emphasis.) But while it means to bow, it also means to “Kiss towards”, to blow a kiss towards God!

Worship is like a bridge into the Spiritual realm.

It takes us into God’s presence and to become aware of His presence is part of worship.

We need to flow under the direction of the Holy Spirit because he has new things for us in every service.

God is a God of variety and ever so original.

Every sunrise is new and original, no two snow-flakes are the same, in the same way no two meetings with Him will ever be similar.

He has something new to say to us whenever we stop to listen.

The Holy Spirit is like the wind… we can’t see the wind, but the result thereof is visible:

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)

Prophetic worship is catching the wind of the Holy Spirit for a specific service and flowing with it.

The main aim of the Holy Spirit is to focus us on Jesus. This is difficult for musicians, worship leaders and pastors alike. Many of us all have agendas, programs and egos to struggle with.

There needs to come a time when a true death to self and all these other things come so that we may indeed be led by the Chief Worship Leader, the Holy Spirit.

“It is the (Holy) Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63)

Prophetic Worship - A Differing Perspective

During Prophetic Worship Some Things Happen…

a. SPIRITUAL WARFARE:

This is reflected in the songs. One might find that the music starts to flow in the direction of sounds of war. The drums might start to feature. The worship leader should be sensitive enough to step out of the way and let the anointing go at this point and make room for the Holy Spirit to flow through the percussive instruments etc. to go to battle and lead the people in spiritual warfare.

b. INTERCESSION:

Fantastic times of prayer and intercession may be released during prophetic worship. One needs to be open to the prompting to the Holy Spirit and ready to drop the agenda at a minute’s notice.

That’s why at COGWC, we don’t have an agenda except to follow the Holy Spirit’s agenda and we go wherever HE takes us!!!

c. PROPHECY:

A word of prophecy is released. The Rhema (spoken word) is spontaneously dropped into your spirit. One needs to ask the question though, whether this is a word for oneself personally or for the body. Prophesy is like creating, declaring the word for NOW. We can’t say “last week the Lord said!” That is old news. What is He saying now? This brings glory and life!

d. SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY IS RELEASED

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: `Not by might nor by power, but by My (Holy) Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts. `Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!’”(Zechariah 5:6-7)

e. GOD WANTS COMMUNION WITH US

He wants to speak. Write down what He says. Pray in tongues, stop, listen, what comes to mind is God speaking. He speaks in the first person. We have to give over control to the Holy Spirit and trust Him.

The Word says: “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened”.

In II Corinthians 3:17 it is written:

“Now the Lord is the (Holy) Spirit; and where the (Holy) Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Where the Holy Spirit is allowed to be Lord, where He is given full right of way, liberty to do as He pleases, where He is not limited, He will bring Liberty.

In a nutshell, Prophetic Worship is of God and when we operate in it, it allows the free move of the Holy Spirit to move in our lives and bless us beyond what we could ever imagine or even think.

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us and this work takes place when we follow the spontaneity of the Holy Spirit as we worship prophetically. Selah!

3)Protocol Of The Palace – Job Duty Statements - SLRS…

Dr. Donnalakshmi (Donna) Selvaraj, as led of the Holy Spirit, presented a quick teaching on the “Serving Leader Responsibility Statement (SLRS),” which is just like a “Job Duty Statement,” however, the name conveys to the Serving Leader that their volunteer and/or paid duties denote a RESPONSIBILITY they are assuming for Kingdom Building - Amen.

Dr. Donna conducted a brief exercise whereby she handed out a “SLRS” with duties stating the following:

When you see me hold up a “Yellow Folder,” please STAND UP and stay STANDING at the place you were seated – THANK YOU!

When you see me hold up a “Blue Folder,” please CLAP your hands – THANK YOU!

When you see me hold up a “Red Folder,” please SIT back down at your place – THANK YOU!

PLEASE NOTE:  When Dr. Donna held up a “Yellow Folder,” ALL attendees STOOD UP; when Dr. Donna held up a “Blue Folder, “ ALL attendees started clapping; and, when Dr. Donna held up a “Red Folder,” ALL attendees sat back down in their seats.  All attendees were IMMEDIATELY able to participate in the “exercise” because of the written “SLRS” and the Spirit of LOVE, JOY and PEACE was present.

Dr. Donna felt this brief exercise demonstrated the POWERFULNESS of a written SLRS.  Having the “expectations of the attendees performance” in writing on a SLRS, allowed ALL the attendees to very quickly “follow directions” and then “achieve the desired performance expectations.”

Dr. Donna felt the above exercise was the quickest example she could give to illustrate the IMPORTANCE and the NEED for a SLRS (i.e. Job Duty Statement) when it comes to Kingdom Building for the organized Church… it simply allows the Servant Leader the opportunity to PRAY about what you are Holy Spirit led to do, and then WRITE down each person’s role for efficient, effective and loving KINGDOM BUILDING – AMEN!

One last thing for the “SLRS” exercise… Dr. Donna noted that because the Seminar started with “Worship and Prayer,” the presence of the Holy Spirit of PEACE was present before the “SLRS” exercise began.  The Holy Spirit “led” the minds and hearts of the attendees because the “Worship and Prayer” had released the “love joy and PEACE” needed for everyone to be successful for the “SLRS” exercise.

4)Finance Ministry – Policies And Procedures…

Pastor Marvel Alder led of the Holy Spirit and using her education in Finance, presented “Policy and Procedures” information for the Church.

This unique and powerful teaching led by Pastor Marvel started by stating that accounting/finance is the language of business.  When a qualified person looks at the financials of a person they are reading a story.  The reports tell the story and that is why it is important to have good adequate policies and procedures in place that can tell the story of stewardship at your respective Church Home.

For example, say the church wants to apply for a 12 month interest free loan.  One of the first things the financial institution’s representative is going to request is the church’s financial records.  When a business person asks for the church financials, they are referring to the financial statements of the church.

Financial statements are a collection of reports about an organization's financial results, financial condition, and cash flow.  They are useful for a number of reasons; for example, they help determine the ability to generate cash.  Not just how they can generate this cash, but what are the sources and uses of that cash.  They are looking at the financials to determine if the church has the capability to pay back its debts.  By looking at the financials, the potential lender can create financial ratios.  These ratios are used as indicators of the financial condition of the church.

The standard THREE financial statements are the:

1)   Balance Sheet

The Balance Sheet shows assets, liabilities, and stockholders' equity as of the report date. It is important to note that the Balance Sheet does not show information that covers a span of time.

2)   Income Statement

The Income Statement provides information on the operations and financial activities for the reporting period. It includes revenues-for the church; this would include offerings, tithes, etc.- and, expenses, gains, and losses.

3)   Statement of Cash Flows

The Statement of Cash Flows reveals the changes in cash flow during the reporting period.  Oftentimes, financials are accompanied by Supplementary Notes that may include explanations and additional details.

At the very basic level, the church should issue an Offering Statement and Balance Sheet to document monthly results and the current  financial condition as of the end of the reporting period.

Financial records are important within and outside the church.  Good financial reporting promotes integrity, character, transparency and trust.

It is possible that someone outside the church ministry may want to see financial records as stated previously for business purposes.  It is also possible that people from within the ministry may want to view financials for different reasons.

To promote GOOD stewardship and transparency, it is GOOD to establish regular intervals or meetings in which the finances of the church are disclosed.  These meetings are to present your financials “decent and in order” and to shun the very appearance of any evil/wrong doing or misappropriation of any funds.

Policies and procedures serve as reference tools for organizations and are valuable when setting guidelines.  When used properly, they promote effectiveness, consistency and efficiency.  If you start here, you are off to creating a good solid foundation in which to build.

The Policy, as referenced here, is the plan of action.  For example, you could say something to the affect, that this policy is adopted by (your church or organization) and it covers the basic principles by which (your church/organization) are guided.

The Procedures are the step-by-step instructions that should be followed to perform said task; therefore, when discussing or preparing policy/procedure, the order of things begin with policy, followed by procedures.  Policy is a plan of action for the vision.  The policy, or plan of action, should always line up and point towards the vision.  The Policy is not the vision, but rather a result of the vision.

To ensure financials are consistent and accurate, it is important for the board to set Policy in place early that will be in compliance with non-profit requirements as set forth by laws, statues and/or regulations, as well as, with the 501c 3 rules as outlined by the Internal Revenue service, if applicable.  The Policy will state something like what financials are due and how often; and. the Procedures will give instruction on how to execute the plan or create the financials.

Pastor Marvel ended her information-filled teaching by citing many examples during the “Question and Answer” period.  The Holy Spirit “transformed” the hearts of the attendees with a NEW joy and love to achieve “financial integrity” through the development of Policies and Procedures for a church ministry – AMEN and GLORY HALLELUJAH!
